Life Groups
Bringing people together to fellowship, stirring up one another to love and do good works, to encourage each other, to sharpen one another in the word of God,
and to make disciples.

We are family!
At The Pointe Church, we believe in doing life together.  We do this through connecting with others in a small group setting. We believe it's biblical and it's critical to every believer’s spiritual growth process in a journey with the Lord.  God’s design is for us to be in relationship with Him and others. By going to a Life Group you'll experience a place that you will belong, be encouraged, be challenged, and serve.  Our hope is that every person will feel the love of God and grow closer in their walk with Christ while developing meaningful relationships with others through Life Groups.  You are the family!
.
In Acts 2:42-41 Paul tells us the importance of the fellowship of the believers - "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

In Hebrews 10:23-25 Paul tells us to encourage and stir up one another to love, and not to neglect meeting together -  He encourages us who belongs to the ecclesia of God: "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."

In Matthew 28:16-20, Jesus gave us all The Great Commission - "Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

My hope is that everyone will find a place and people to do life together in a Life Group, learning to be a disciple and how to make disciples as Jesus calls us to do and that through this you’ll grow closer to Him and be unified with the body of Christ.

Not a Fan Becoming a Completely Committed Follower of Jesus – Led by Mike Conn – 6:30PM – Meets at 127 Coon Hunters Rd., Brandon, MS  39042 - (Co-Ed)) Ongoing group - Join anytime
After years of serving God, Pastor Kyle Idleman had a startling revelation: for too long, he had been living as a fan of Jesus; someone who tried to make Christianity seem as appealing, comfortable, and convenient as he possibly could to others. Idleman decided something had to change--he needed to embark on the journey of becoming a completely committed follower of God, not just a fan. Fans want to be close enough to Jesus to get all the benefits, but not so close that it requires sacrifice, while followers are all in and completely committed to Christ. Not a Fan gives you the tools you need to determine exactly where you stand when it comes to your relationship with Jesus. No matter where you are in your walk with Christ, Not a Fan calls you to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple. With frankness and a touch of humor, Idleman invites you to: Examine your relationship with God, Determine if you're following Jesus or just following the rules, pray the way Jesus prayed, Start truly living for the one who gave his all for you.

Good Boundaries and Goodbyes: Loving Others Without Losing the Best of Who You Are - Led by Betty Hodge – 6:30PM – Meets in the Office Living Room – (Women)
Is it unloving or selfish to set a boundary? Are Christians ever called to walk away from a relationship that’s no longer safe or sustainable? Lysa TerKeurst deeply understands these hard questions in the midst of relational struggles. But after thousands of hours of counseling intensives and extensive theological research that transformed the way she defined healthy relationships, Lysa is now more committed than ever to loving people well without losing the best of who she is. She wants to help you do the same. In this book Lysa will help you:
  • Understand the five factors to remember when implementing healthy boundaries.
  • Determine the appropriate amount of personal and emotional access someone has to you based on how responsible they'll be with that access.
  • Stop being misled and emotionally paralyzed by wrongly interpreted or weaponized scriptures that perpetuate unhealthy dynamics in difficult relationships.
  • Overcome the frustrating cycle of ineffective boundary-setting with realistic scripts and practical strategies to help you communicate, keep, and implement healthier patterns.
  • Be equipped to say goodbye without guilt when a relationship has shifted from difficult to destructive and is no longer sustainable.
  • Receive therapeutic wisdom you can trust directly from Lysa’s Christian counselor Jim Cress, who weighs in throughout the book.
You'll be relieved to learn that boundaries aren't just a good idea, they're a God idea. There is limited space.  If you’re interested please contact Betty @ Email: betty@cpcmetro.org. There will be 2 sets of Life Groups for this semester – (Cost is $32.00 – limited scholarships available)

When Life Gives You Lemons: 3 must ask questions for navigating seasons of adversity – Led by Teresa Kinkennon – 6:30PM – Meets in the Church Office Julie’s Office – (Co-Ed) - Ongoing - In seasons of adversity, we are often tempted to ask the question: “Why?” We wrestle with why we are in the situation we are in. Why God hasn’t stepped in yet? Why did it have to be us? In When Life Gives You Lemons, Gerald Fadayomi unpacks how “Why?” may not be the right question to ask in difficult circumstances and instead, offers three better questions we can ask ourselves when adversity comes our way. These questions will help you walk through seasons of depression, heartache, anxiety, anger, pain, and loss. They will help you gain perspective, experience peace, and even find joy in the midst of uncertainty. Lemons can be turned to lemonade, and navigating the answers to these three questions will show you how! If you've ever asked yourself, "Why me?" it's time to shift your perspective. It's time to turn lemons into lemonade. So what are you waiting for?

Common Questions?

WHAT HAPPENS AT A LIFE GROUP MEETING?

You’ve probably seen life groups meeting and not even realized it. A life group looks like friends at lunch or people studying a book or topic of interest. At its core, a life group is a gathering of people, and it is less about what you do and more about who you do it with. By participating in life groups, you can expect to connect with others through a common study, engage in life giving conversation and prayer.

HOW OFTEN DOES A LIFE GROUP MEET?

Our life groups meet for three semesters a year—winter/spring, summer, and fall. During the semester, most groups meet once a week. Life groups are meant to bring meaning and community into the flow of your life so even if you can’t attend every, single meeting, there is still great value in joining a group. During the in between semesters, we have a few continuous (ongoing) groups.  These will be posted at the Information Counter and on the Website

WHERE DO LIFE GROUPS MEET?

Life groups meet in places like homes, restaurants, coffee shops and at the church.

HOW LONG DOES A TYPICAL LIFE GROUP STAY TOGETHER?

Most life groups meet for a semester. This way, new people can join groups easily and regularly. Also, the semester format allows you to try multiple groups each year. As relationships form, some groups choose to stay together for consecutive semesters, but new members are always welcome.

IS THERE CHILDCARE AVAILABLE?

Childcare is available for our Wednesday and Sunday morning during services and night Life Groups that meet at the church.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE FIRST GROUP I TRY?

The truth is, not everyone will find the best fit with the first group they try. This is why we encourage you to select a few groups that interest you, contact the leaders and try out a couple different groups before choosing the best one for you. The simple strategy to finding success in life groups is to not give up. We believe there is a group that is right for everyone—including you!
